Brillante Viernes: August 14, 2020

Happy Friday! It has been a while since I have written one of my brillante viernes posts! During the pandemic (part I), things were SO hectic. Things still seem pretty hectic, but I am hoping to post some more Brillante Viernes posts and what is helping me this year. Also, drop me a note about what you would like to read more of on this blog as we are all in different situations this year.

My school is starting virtually. I am going to use many of the tools that I used last year. (What are they? Check out this post.) Also, I created a round-up of my beginning of the year posts and digital learning posts here. I have been paying more attention to Google Classroom and tips for organizing my assignments there. (Have you seen the updates coming to Classroom? I am THRILLED about the missing assignments tab!)

However, I am starting to map out more of my classes and the first few weeks to prepare for the beginning of the year:

  • For 8th grade, I am planning on discussing the protests in Chile and tying this into the protests that have happened here all summer in the US. Thank goodness that Kara has this amazing unit that I am adapting for my students!
  • For 6th grade, we are going to stick with a unit about Soy Yo that I did last year and tying in the Señor Wooly trilogy of Guapo.
  • For 5th grade, we are starting with Señor Wooly’s No lo tengo and a unit on school.

Luckily, whatever situation we face, we aren’t going at it alone. Check out this list and any posts if you missed them:
