Two listening activities are better than one!

I am trying to not only blog about my favorites on Friday, but also use them in my class.  This past week, I used an idea from Martina Bex with the fork idea that I blogged about this past Friday.  I described a scene in Spanish and had students draw it.  After that, I gave them time to write about it in English or label the picture in Spanish.  Then, I gave each pair a sticky note to play the fork game.  The students were playing against each other.  The goal is to ONLY grab the sticky note if the statement is true.  If a statement was true, the first person to grab the sticky note got a point.  If the statement was false and a student grabbed it, the other student received two points.  At the end, whoever had the most points was the winner.  It was a great activity, incorporated a lot of input, and it kept the students moving.  Here was the story with the follow-up details that I used:

Hay una mesa grande con mucha comida en el comedor. Hay una familia sentada en la mesa. Una persona es la madre con pelo largo. Una persona es el padre alto. El padre es muy alto. Hay dos hijos en la mesa- una chica y un chico. La madre tiene un plato con una hamburguesa con queso, lechuga y tomate. Ella bebe un café. El padre come tres pescados y cinco papas fritas. En el centro de la mesa, hay tostada con mantequilla. La hija come ocho huevos con diez pezados de tocino. Bebe un vaso de jugo de manzana. El hijo come arroz con pizza y el jamón. El hijo no tiene sed y no bebe nada. Para postre, la familia va a comer una torta de chocolate.

1. La familia está en la cocina.
2. Hay cuatro personas en la mesa.
3. El padre es muy alto.
4. Hay tres hijos.
5. El hijo bebe un refresco.
6. En la hamburguesa, hay queso, lechuga y pollo.
7. El padre come tres pescados.
8. La hija come comida para desayuno.
9. La hija bebe un vaso de jugo de naranja.
10. El hijo no come pizza.
11. La familia va a comer una torta de chocolate.
12. La madre bebe un café.
