Winter Olympics Language Games

jogging cartoon

One way students will participate in our class “Winter Olympics” is by competing in language games.  I am going to have each “country” aka pairs participate in the running dictation game.  One student will stay in his or her seat.  The other student will run to the different sentences posted around the room.  The running student will have to relay the message in the target language from each sentence.  The seated student will write each message.  For my upper level students, they will have to reassemble the sentences in the correct order.  Whichever country finishes first will earn points for his or her team.  The team which finishes first will earn 5 points, the second team will earn 3 points, and the team that finishes third gets one point.  We will continue this tally throughout the week.
