I found this idea for an artist project, and I love it. I cannot remember where I found it, but I cannot claim that this idea was mine. Since I completed this with Spanish I, it was mostly completed in English. However, with a higher level class, it could easily be completed in Spanish. You could also use this as an emergency sub plan if the sub did not speak Spanish.
Each student picked a different artist from a Spanish-speaking country. Once they researched their artist, they decide five gifts to give their artist. The gifts should be relevant to their artist, and they should show an understanding of their artist. While some can be related to their art, some should also relate to their personal life. While students can list the gift in Spanish, the rationale will probably have to be in English. Then, the students design a box where they would give their gifts. They use the artist’s style to design the box.
