Another quick warm-up that I use is very simple. It is called write-and-pass. It is a cooperative learning strategy. Each student has a partner. They write down a vocabulary word in Spanish and pass it to their partner who adds to the list. I will normally give them a set topic and time to complete it. This is easy because it does not take time to set up, and it gets students thinking in Spanish from the get go. If you wanted to, you could add translation to this activity. A partner writes down a word in Spanish then their partner defines it and adds another Spanish word. While I really hate relying primarily on translation, I feel that if we do not translate from time to time students do not know what words mean! This would also be a great back from break warm-up. You could have the students list anything that they like.
